New faces are always welcome!

Parking is available close to the building with 6 designated disabled parking spaces.

Welcome to the Norwich Access Group's web site which is full of useful information about Norwich with links to other informative stuff about disability and how to live a more equal life.

We are a relatively small group of friendly disabled people campaigning for better access to Norwich and the surrounding area. We have members with all sorts of impairments and always welcome new people to come and join us in our endeavours for greater equality through better access.

If you'd like to make contact then there are links below or if you'd like to come to a meeting then just turn up and you will be warmly welcomed.

Memorial Garden

We recently had a preview of the new revamped memorial garden in the city centre and it looks very good BUT. The ramped access around the memorial has a slight cross slope on it which is unnecessary and could prove difficult if you're pushing a wheelchair. Access for scooters and wheelchairs is only to the area directly behind the memorial. Whilst there are steps to the other levels it would have been possible to install a ramp on the west side to give access to the entire garden. The seating is elegant but many older and less able people need back rests to lean on and arm rests to help launch themselves up. We congratulate the City Council on restoring this fitting memorial to our glorious dead but the gardens are very much for the living and should have been constructed to be more inclusive. Shame on English Heritage for putting buildings before people.
